Identifying, protecting, and preserving the natural,
cultural, and recreational heritage of the Calumet region of Illinois and
2017 CHP Membership Meeting
The Calumet Heritage Partnership held its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Gardner Center for the Arts in Gary.
After a welcome from board President Mark Bouman, Geof Benson from the
Calumet Stewardship Initiative addressed the membership on integration of
the activities of the Calumet
Stewardship Initiative with CHP. The membership approved an
ammendement to the bylaws
that will allow CHP to provide more opportunities for the membership to get
involved in organizing CHP's programming. The membership elected the
board of directors for 2017 including
new board members Benjamin Cox and Amanda Aguilera. The CHP Board selected
several new leaders. Michael Longan was elected board president and
Tiffany Tolbert was elected to replace him as vice presdient for Indiana. Outgoing president Mark Bouman presented a report on the activities of the membership incluuding the landmark completion of the
Calumet National Heritage Area Feasibility Study.
The meeting ended with a short discussion of some of the many activities
that region organizations have planned for the comming year.
